Financial Assistance System for Foreign Students who live in Japan【1】-Scholarship system by certification-
At the time of enrollment, students who satisfy the following conditions may be exempted from tuition as a scholarship student.

*1 Regarding delivery of the exemption, half of the targeted amount will be delivered at the time of payment for academic fees, for both at the first semester and the second semester.
- (1) Procedures for scholarship system by certification
- a. At the time of application, please fill out any acquired certifications in the application column for scholarship system on application form for certification by foreign students.
- b. Please enclose a copy of your certificate of acceptance
- (2) Applicable Period
Exemption is limited to within each course term period. However, in the event of poor scores, behavior, and attendance after enrollment, this may be cancelled.
-Special Scholarship Examination for foreign students-
A written examination is carried out for special scholarship applicants, and for those with excellent results, tuition may be exempted according to the following classification.Furthermore, a special scholarship test can be taken both before and after submission of the enrollment application.

*In the event a special scholarship examination is taken prior to submission of the enrollment application, and a Rank C or above is achieved, the Japanese written test and composition test will be exempted.
- (6) Application requirements for foreign students
Persons who completed 12 years of general school education in their own country, or are expecting to complete such before March 31, 2011, and are qualified to enter a university in their own country. Or persons recognized as having a corresponding academic ability, are 18 years or older, and one of following applies.
- a. Japanese Language Proficiency Test, Grade 2 or above.
- b. Japan Foreign Student Examination, Japanese language subject, 200 points or more.
- c. Studied Japanese language at a Japanese language institute for more than 6 months.
- d. Attended a school which complies with the Japanese School of Education Law (except preschool) for more than one year.
- e. BJT Business Japanese Language Proficiency Test, 400 points or more
- (7) Application Documents
- a. Application for a special scholarship by foreign applicants (photo attached, name and birth date written on the back.)
*To apply for the special scholarship, please inquire to the admissions clerk. An application form will be sent by postal mail. - b. "Certification and "Academic Transcript verifying 12 years of education in a foreign country.
- c. Documents which certify one of the application requirements, a-e, as described above in (6)

- (8) Announcement of the results
After the examination, the examinees will be notified of the results by postal mail. Inquiries regarding passing or failing by telephone, etc., will not be accepted.
- (9) Applicable Period

-Exemption system for preparatory courses for the bar exam and/or law school, and the Open University of Japan-
For applicants of preparatory courses for the bar exam and/or law school and Open University, who have excellent achievement in the written test scores are eligible for a special system scholarship which exempts the first year tuition at the Open University. Furthermore, the Open University tuition exemption system examination can be taken either before after submission of the admissions application.

After the second year, special scholarship students will be newly selected from among all enrolled students in consideration of achievement, personality, etc., during the first year.
- (10) Others
Please bring your writing utensils to the examination.
*The scholarship system by certification and attendance, and the Special Scholarship Examination for foreign students cannot be used in conjunction. The larger of the tuition exemptions will be applied.
*If, due to the results of Special Scholarship Examination for Foreign Students, an exemption cannot be applied, re-testing is possible. However, please be aware that any exemption amount received from the previous exam will be annulled, and all exemptions will be based on the new examination.
